I have had a few different ideas.
The first thing I had to do though was choose the food that I would be advertising.
I chose two different foods for both of my very different ideas.
For my first idea I chose fruit buns.
The inspiration for this came when my mum was cooking the other day. She pulled the dinner out of the oven and held it up with a big smile on her face. She looked like one of these really cheesy adverts:
So I am going to use my mum as the model for my advert.
I have already decided what I want her to wear, pose, faecal expression and the location and props.
They are as follows: I would like her hair to be up in a bun or pony tail because it will be out of her face and that is how most women had their hair in the adverts.
I would like her to kneel down in front of the oven, and I would like the oven to be open as if something has just been cooking. In her hand I want the loaf of raisin bread (bun) on a tray and for there to be a large smile on her face. If possible I would like her to wear an apron and oven gloves but I don't think we have any so we shall see. I think I will take a few photos in black and white and some in colour and see which I like best.
The slogan just came to me as I was thinking of fruit buns. I was trying to think of a pun that I could play around with and then it hit me: "A bun in the oven that even he can't complain about."
This is playing on the term "She has a 'bun' in the oven" meaning she's pregnant.
I wanted it to be a little different from the other 1950 style adverts in that instead of poking fun at woman it poked at men. Not in a bad way just as a joke.
Here are some drawings of my idea:
My other idea was for 'Krispy Kream' doughnuts:
And I had one other idea which was from 'Skittles':
There are a few permissions I will have to have mind, For the Bun one I have asked down at catering in college if I can photograph the ovens in the kitchen to see if they are what I am looking for, for my idea.
For the doughnut one I have the issuse of cost. I am hoping that I can cover that by asking my friends if they will split it with me and they can eat them afterwards.
But then we were looking at food photography in class and fruit came across as I very big catagory to photograph and I really liked the way that people portrayed it in pictures. So I decided to have a go at that and promote healthy eating rather than do some junk food.
These are all my ideas:
There are a few ideas I have come up with while I was researching, such as: Using a spray bottle to create tiny little droplets on the fruit to help make it look fresh and ripe. Another idea was that I would have one whole fruit in the shot and one cut in half this would again show that it was fresh and would appeal a little more to people more than just the fruit that is whole.
I think I am going to go with both of these ideas and try and combine them into one picture that will make people want to lick it right off the screen.
